A cajun/zydeco inspired ditty, this chart plays well with both pro groups and younger ensembles (middle school and/or high school). Features a New Orleans style "shout" with a repeated solo section that can circulate as many times as necessary to feature any number of soloists or group solo turns. This "combo" type piece can work well with just a few players or a whole big band. Parts for Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Baritone Sax, Clarinet, Flute, French Horn, Trombone, Trumpet, Bass, Drums, Piano, with additional solo guide parts for younger players.

This chart for standard big band (5 saxes, 4 trombones, 4 trumpet, bass, piano, guitar, drums) and suitable for community jazz ensembles, college, or intermediate to advanced high school groups. This chart (or cue) was scored for the film The Stranger By the Bay. The music was used for the opening title credits and since the story of the film featured Seattle I named the cue appropriately. Features the sax section and strong ensemble shout sections - has a cinematic quality and is sort of a novelty so add it to your book! When you order, the score and parts delivered to you electronically in PDF format - just Print and Play!

This tune was originally written for The Blowholes and adapted for middle school players. A 1960's style blues with a funky edge, the chart features many solo opportunities. Scored for Trumpet 1 and 2, Alto 1 and 2, Tenor 1 and 2, Trombone, Bass, Piano/Guitar, and Drums, the chart will sound complete with either a full (standard jazz group) or with fewer players, which this chart was scored for. Fun to play and ideal for young jazz ensembles or even more experienced groups. When you order, the score and parts delivered to you electronically in PDF format - just Print and Play!

Written especially for my Early Bird Jazz Band group, this tune will hopefully be a favorite of your group too. The original tune will feel familiar as it has a catchy Ska feel which bridges the rock and jazz feels very nicely. Scored for 3 Trumpet, 2 Trombones, Full Sax Section, Full Rhythm Section, with optional Clarinet and Flute doubles. Solo sections can open up to suit your needs. Be sure to listen to the score MP3 recording as it should serve as a good reference for how the tune goes and some suggested solo approaches. This chart should work well for a small combo or full jazz group. Although perfect for a young Jazz band, high school groups will enjoy playing this one too. When you order, the score and parts delivered to you electronically in PDF format - just Print and Play!

This is a memorable Jazz/Rock tune that features saxes and the entire ensemble actually. Perfect for a good middle school jazz band and/or a young high school group. Playing time of about 6 minutes. Ideal for young players who are "on their way" musically! You have a number of options for soloists to feature, and the extended coda really makes this piece feel a epic and special! My Early Bird Jazz Band groups have performed this and we've even combined with the local high school jazz band and it works wonderful that way too! Young and experienced groups have enough here to sink their teeth into and it's a fun chart to play. Scored for a smaller big band (3 Trumpets, 2 Trombones, 5 Saxes, Bass, Piano, Drums, Guitar, Organ and Synth) this chart will make a great addition to your middle and/or young high school book. The rock feel provides a solid framework, but the lines, harmonies and chords give it a contemporary jazz feel. Parts and Scores are delivered electronically - Print and Play!

A modern, jazzy blues tune perfect for a good middle school jazz band and/or a young high school group. Playing time of about 6 minutes. Originally scored for the instrumentation of my Early Bird Jazz group: Flutes 1-2, Violin, Clarinet, Alto Sax 1-2, Tenor Sax 1-2, Baritone Sax, Trumpets 1-3, French Horn, Trombone, Tuba, Guitar, Piano, Bass, Drums. This orchestration gives you a lot of flexibility. There's a short Flute featurette (or that section can be adapted for two saxes or two Trumpets or any other combination). Solos are written out with chords and very playable. This is an excellent chart for a young ensemble and could work great for a young high school group as well. It's a slightly sophisticated blues and really fun to play! FYI: just about all my Early Bird charts have the word 'way' in the title - it just became a convention. One of my personal favorites since it was named after our family cat, Sissel. A very cool jazz/rock/latin/blues tune that dips into swing a bit. Baritone and Tenor solos. A cool rhythm section feel that will be easy for young players to lock into; Sax Soli section, full ensemble features, and much more. Scored for a slighly smaller than standard jazz band but still very full: Alto Saxes 1-2, Tenor Saxes 1-2, Trumpets 1-2, Trombones 1-2, Bass, Piano, Guitar, Drums, with additonal parts for Clarinet, Violin. This chart is ideal for young groups (middle school or even high school). The solos are all written out with chords. Fun to play and very playable - your group will sound great with this chart! Parts and Scores are delivered electronically - Print and Play!

A melodious and jazzy little modern shuffle tune cobbled together especially for my own group (Early Bird Jazz Band). Written for a young, developing ensemble, this chart is well-suited for middle school jazz bands and/or a young high school group. Opens up for solos (as many as you need or want: trumpet, alto, tenor, piano, guitar) - players can listen to my demo (trumpet) solo to get an idea for one approach to soloing over the chord changes, which move along pretty easy, but sound really good! Parts and Scores are delivered electronically - Print and Play!
