This is a straight-ahead modern swing tune with many inventive twists and turns. Very nice harmonies, lines and a cool chord progression for blowing over. Friday the 13th	This chart was scored for my septet, The Blowholes. Scored for Trumpet, Alto, Tenor, Trombone, Guitar, Tuba, Drums. This particular chart evokes a 1920s or 1930's sound. Spooky sounds meet spooky dancing flapper girls - at least that's how I always imagined it! This is one of my favorites - features just about everyone. It's a classic. Note that there's a Tuba part, although I can supply a Bass part if you need one - just let me know when you order. I Dream of Rain	This chart was scored for my septet, The Blowholes. Scored for Trumpet (Lead Vocal), Alto, Tenor, Trombone, Guitar, Bass, Drums. This is a vocal feature (scored for the Trumpet player....that's me in The Blowholes!) and has a nice Bossa Nova feel. A sultry number, there's an ache to this one - a good sort of ache though. No Money Left	This chart was scored for my septet, The Blowholes. Scored for Trumpet (Lead Vocal), Alto, Tenor Sax (doubling mostly on Clarinet), Trombone, Guitar, Tuba, Drums. This tune features a Vocal (Tenor/Male) who also plays Trumpet (okay, so I wrote it for myself!). This is an entertaining song and it's truly appropriate for the times. Here are the lyrics for the first half of the tune: "All through the summer we were livin' like there's no tomorrow...spending our cash without a care...after all is said and done...at least we had ourselves some fun...and who really wants to be a millionaire? we got...no money left...no money left...we got talent...hope...ambition...and pride...but no money left...we were the cats with all the cream...now there's nothin' to redeem...cause we got...no money...no mo' money...no money left!" (and then it cuts into a Dixie jazz feel with everyone soloing...next there's a jungle groove thing...then a rubato vocal bridge that gets a bit sentimental about all the good things we still have...and then the reprise to reality..it's all pretty tight and I'm very proud of this piece and would love to hear it recorded - if not be me then someone!) Note that there's a Tuba part covering the Bass part (but a Bass part is also shipped). The Blowholes have a Tuba player who also plays Bass, so I wrote this for her talents. Again, this is a VOCAL feature (written in the Trumpet part). It would be easy to adapt for any of the other players though. Intermediate to Advanced difficulty. This is the original version - not to be confused with the surf version I play on Tenor Sax with The Svens...that one is good too - but this is where it started from. Lots of fun stuff. That Is Not A Chew Toy	This chart was scored for my septet, The Blowholes. Scored for Trumpet, Alto, Tenor, Trombone, Guitar, Bass, Drums. Don't let the cheeky title fool you - this is a classic. Seriously, folks that hear this tune always seem to love it. Based on a lydian mode riff, the chart flows naturally and opens up with various solos to feature several players. There's a bit of a vocal shout ("that is not a, that is not a...chew...toy!") - all told, this is one of my signature charts. Inspired by our puppy, Bella, as she chewed on just about everything in my studio - but what a sweetie! Intermediate to Advanced difficulty.
