VIRTUAL TRUMPET SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

	* Windows 9x, 2000, ME, XP  or higher
	* DirectX 7 (or higher) for Windows 9x users (DirectX comes with 2000, ME, XP)
	* Sound Card, Mouse, Keyboard (with number pad keys)
	* 10MB disk space or 50MB (with complete Audio Library installed - registered users only)

VIRTUAL TRUMPET - INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

If you have a previous version of Virtual Trumpet installed on your computer you MUST
un-install it first before installing the new version.  Follow these steps to un-install 
Virtual Trumpet from your computer:

UN-INSTALLING A PREVIOUS VERSION OF VIRTUAL TRUMPET
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
	* Click the "My Computer" icon on your desktop
	* Click the "Control Panel" icon
	* Click the "Add/Remove Programs" icon
	* Scroll down the list of applications and select "Virtual Trumpet" then click the "Add/Remove" button
	* You will be prompted to run the un-install tool - click "Yes" to remove, "No" to cancel
	* If prompted to remove "shared" files, click "No"
	* The un-install program will NOT remove any audio files in the \Virtual Trumpet\media sub-directory
	   (if the optional audio library is installed).
	   (Hint:  DO NOT delete any of the audio files unless you are upgrading to a new audio library or uninstalling the 
           entire application.)

 INSTALLING VIRTUAL TRUMPET
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
	* Go to http://www.birdwellmusic.com/Trumpet/vTrumpet/vTrumpetDownloads.aspx 
	  to find the latest Virtual Trumpet download link(s).

	* If you have a previous version of Virtual Trumpet installed, un-install it first (see instructions above).

	* Close all running applications so as not to get any "sharing" or "file in use" warnings.
	
	* Download and run vtrumpet_setupfiles.exe - the setup files will be extracted to your TEMP directory
	 (HINT:  this directory is typically C:\WINDOWS\TEMP or C:\TEMP or C:\TMP)

	* After you click "Unzip" button, the SETUP.EXE program should run automatically.  
          Otherwise, you must manually run the SETUP.EXE program extracted to your TEMP directory. 
 	  (HINT: If prompted by the installation program to replace a NEWER file on your machine with an OLDER 
           installation file, DO NOT replace it.  Take your time and read any warning messages, if any, carefully.)

	* By default, Virtual Trumpet is installed to the "C:\Program Files\Virtual Trumpet" directory.
	* You can install to any drive - for example:  D:, E:, F: etc.

VIRTUAL TRUMPET AUDIO LIBRARY (highly recommended, but optional)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Audio playback features of Virtual Trumpet are available only to Registered Users.
You can pre-install the Audio Library and register later.  Here's how to install the Audio Library:

	* Go to http://www.birdwellmusic.com/Trumpet/vTrumpet/vTrumpetDownloads.aspx to find
 	  the latest Audio Library download link(s).

	* Download and run vtrumpet_audiolib.exe file - this file will prompt you for what 
	  directory to extract the audio files to.  The audio files must be extracted to 
	  \MEDIA sub-directory where Virtual Trumpet is installed.  This is typically:
		"C:\Program Files\Virtual Trumpet\media\"

	* If you installed Virtual Trumpet to a different drive location, be sure to extract
	  the audio files to the "\Virtual Trumpet\media\" sub-directory where you installed Virtual Trumpet.

REGISTER YOUR COPY OF VIRTUAL TRUMPET
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Registering has its benefits - these include the following:
	* The registration fee is very small and payment is very easy!
	* Free upgrades to future versions (of same generation versions, e.g., 1.x, 2.x, etc.)
	* Play Audio and MIDI sounds together (unregistered users can only play MIDI sounds)
	* Create and share ".LIK" (Lick) files with other Virtual Trumpet players!
	* No more "Please Register" notifications!
	* You will be supporting the development of future versions of this product!
