A modern, jazzy blues tune perfect for a good middle
school jazz band and/or a young high school group.
Playing time of about 6 minutes.
All the usual parts (Saxes, Trumpets, Trombones, Rhythm
parts) and since it was originally scored for my
Early Bird Jazz group you get extras: Flutes
1-2, Violin, Clarinet, Alto Sax 1-2, Tenor Sax 1-2, Baritone Sax,
Trumpets 1-3, French Horn, Trombone, Tuba, Guitar, Piano, Bass,
Drums. This orchestration gives you a lot of flexibility.
There's a short/optional Flute featurette (or
that section can be adapted for two saxes or two Trumpets or any
other combination).
Solos are written out with chords and very
playable. This is an excellent chart for a
young ensemble and could work great for a young
high school group as well. It's a slightly
sophisticated blues and really fun to play! FYI: just about
all my Early Bird charts have the word 'way' in
the title - it just became a convention.
