Virtual Trumpet - click here for revision history, fixes and new features!

Before downloading, read the readme.txt file which contains general instructions for installing/uninstalling Virtual Trumpet and the Audio Library, and lists the latest System Requirements and a link to the End-User License Agreement.

Download the Virtual Trumpet Setup files  - This self-extracting file will extract the setup files to your TEMP directory.  Once extracted, the  SETUP.EXE will launch automatically to install Virtual Trumpet.

Download the Virtual Trumpet Audio Library - This self-extracting file will install the Virtual Trumpet Audio Library files to the C:\Program Files\Virtual Trumpet\media sub-directory.  (Note:  If you installed Virtual Trumpet to a different location you must enter the path.) The Audio Library is a collection of real trumpet audio samples that greatly enhances the playback possibilities of Virtual Trumpet. With it, you can combine Audio and MIDI playback.  Once you register your copy of Virtual Trumpet, the audio playback features are enabled.

Download DirectX 7.0 or higher - Windows 2000/ME/XP ship with DirectX pre-installed on the OS, so if you are running on those Operating Systems, you shouldn't have to install DirectX.  If you are running Windows 9x (95/98), you may need to download DirectX (7.0 or higher) if not already installed. These components are required to run Virtual Trumpet. Download the latest from Microsoft's DirectX site. If DirectX (7.0 or higher) is already installed, you won't need to re-download these components unless you want to upgrade.

Virtual Trumpet Lite  - Try this "lite" version of Virtual Trumpet.  Currently requires Internet Explorer 4 or higher with Java enabled.  Scaled down slightly, Virtual Trumpet Lite can play "Licks", "Harmony", "Open" and "Harmon Mute" audio, and more!  You can even open up multiple instances and play Licks simultaneously - duets and trios are now possible with smartly crafted Licks!  It pre-loads with all the Licks available in the desktop version.  Virtual Trumpet Lite is fun to use and can be used anywhere you have a browser!

Groovy Smoothie Disco Dudie (MP3 file) - On this improvised audio sample I'm jamming on the Virtual Trumpet while my PSR-540 keyboard simultaneously pumps out the disco-style accompanyment - no over-dubbing or pre-sequencing was necessary!  The lead melody consists of the "Open" Audio trumpet, doubled with a MIDI flute 8va.  Notice how I was able to play a nice sustained melody that still has some movement.  I used two "Licks" in this take simply by pressing the Hot Keys I assigned when I wanted the Lick(s) to play.  Licks are great because no matter what key you define them in, they will always play back relative to the note you are currently on.  A little reverb added to taste, and the whole track was finished in a matter of a minutes.

Jazzy Improvisation (MP3 file)  - This jazzy little ditty showcases the Virtual Trumpet's ability to play both MIDI and Audio at the same time - with harmony!  This is one take - there's no overdubbing.  All the panning is automatic!  It just takes seconds to set this up in Virtual Trumpet.  Stopping and starting a phrase is easy, with a little practice!

Funky Chorale (MP3 file)  - This demo, an improvised chorale, combines Audio, MIDI and harmony.  Again, it's just one of an infinite number of outputs possible with Virtual Trumpet.   Listen to how the Bassoon doubles the melody 15va basso, and the trumpet melody is harmonized with a Major Triad - a very rich, full sound and lots of neat possibilities!
