3.0 10/15/2004 Virtual Trumpet Lite is now retired. Sun's latest JRE seemed to break the code and I'm no longer interested taking the time to set up a dev environment and fiddle with the code base to make it all work. Maybe some rainy day I'll figure it out (could be very minor), but for now let's just give VTL a rest and move on. The Virtual Trumpet for Window product is still available!

3.0 10/1/2002 Now requires Sun's JRE 1.4 - some minor enhancements and bug fixes, but pretty much the same old Virtual Trumpet Lite. Built this version with NetBeans - since I don't do a whole lot of Java programming anymore (mostly .NET/C#) I needed to set up a build environment again so that I can build this codebase, maintain it and...well, forget about it. This might be it for a while - enjoy!

Re-written with Sun's JDK, this new release will work with Netscape and IE, even on OS's other than Windows, including Solaris, Linux and maybe Mac.

Most of the core features remain the same, but the code is much tighter, easier to maintain, portable, etc.

The notes are now drawn rather than loaded from image files, which speeds things up and offers more possibilties. Click on a staff line/space will play that note!

New features include the ability to abort a Lick at any time, load licks from source code, no more security popup since this applet is no threat anymore (never was). Requires Sun's JRE 1.3

1.0 10/8/2000 Virtual Trumpet Lite! Release this "Lite" (smaller, less features but still powerful, totally FREE) of the Virtual Trumpet. This "Lite" version still allows users to experience the Virtual Trumpet first hand. IE 4.0 or higher users can run Virtual Trumpet Lite from anywhere! More features to come, but this is where we'll start from. It's my hope that the feature set of this version may someday rival those of the desktop version!
